KENYA AND EGYPT FORGE AHEAD WITH STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP

By: Gladys Karuga Kenya and Egypt are strengthening their bond, building on the Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership signed in 2025. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi revealed that the partnership will drive cooperation in key areas such as trade, water security, regional peace efforts, and African Union reform. During a press briefing, Mudavadi emphasized that the partnership is founded on mutual respect, shared African heritage, and a common responsibility for regional stability and progress. The two countries have formed working groups to drive implementation, with a mid-term review planned to assess progress and refine strategic priorities. The partnership has already yielded results, with trade volume between the two countries reaching $600-700 million in 2025. Egypt is now Kenya's second-largest tea market, and both countries are looking to diversify traded products and fast-track the establishment of a Kenya-Egypt Joint Business Council.
