Kenya-based health technology company Smart Applications International has secured international recognition after being named Product and Service Innovation of the Year at the 3i International Conference 2026.

The accolade, awarded during the global forum organised by the Insurers Association of Mauritius, acknowledges the firm’s continued efforts in leveraging technology to reshape healthcare and insurance systems across Africa and other markets.

The 3i International Conference serves as a platform for global industry players to engage on key developments influencing insurance and healthcare. This year’s forum placed emphasis on the expanding role of artificial intelligence, deeper collaboration between insurers and healthcare providers, and the shift toward integrated digital systems.

The company was represented by Group Managing Director Harrison Muiru, alongside Group Director for Insurance Business Esther Muiruri and Mauritius Country Manager Yan Jouan. The delegation took part in discussions focusing on practical applications of AI in healthcare and strategies for enhancing efficiency within the insurance ecosystem.

Following the award, Muiru said the recognition reflects the company’s commitment to driving impactful innovation.

“This recognition is a strong validation of our commitment to delivering meaningful, technology-led transformation in healthcare and insurance. As systems grow in complexity, the need for intelligent, integrated platforms becomes even more critical,” he said.

Jouan highlighted the importance of combining digital systems with local expertise to build resilient healthcare frameworks.

“Solutions like MediSmart and SmartInsure enable insurers to automate processes, reduce costs, and scale sustainably while maintaining human oversight,” he noted.

The recognition further signals the company’s expanding presence in international markets and its contribution to digital transformation within the sector. Its platforms, including MediSmart and Smart Insure, continue to support improved service delivery, efficient claims management, and data-informed decision-making.

As the industry increasingly embraces AI and digital innovation, Smart Applications International continues to play a leading role in delivering solutions that enhance efficiency, accountability, and access to services.
