Embakasi South parliamentary aspirant Hon. Dr. Jared Oundo has welcomed reports of Raila Odinga Jnr's interest in contesting the Embakasi South parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election, describing the development as a healthy sign for Kenya's democracy.

Dr. Oundo said leadership contests should be guided by ideas, competence, integrity, and a genuine commitment to public service rather than political entitlement or family background.

"Embakasi South belongs to its people. Every Kenyan who is qualified and committed to serving the wananchi has a constitutional right to seek elective office. I welcome Raila Odinga Jnr and any other aspirants who are prepared to subject themselves to the democratic will of the people," he said.

He noted that the upcoming election presents an opportunity for residents to assess candidates based on their vision, leadership record, and practical solutions to the challenges affecting the constituency.

Dr. Oundo said his campaign remains focused on delivering transformational, people-centered leadership aimed at improving the lives of Embakasi South residents. His manifesto places strong emphasis on economic empowerment by supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, improving access to affordable financing for entrepreneurs, and creating sustainable employment opportunities for young people.

Education also features prominently in his agenda, with commitments to increase bursary allocations, strengthen mentorship programs, promote digital literacy, and establish strategic partnerships that expand educational and career opportunities for students and young professionals. He maintained that investing in education is key to unlocking the constituency's full potential.

Youth and women empowerment remains another key pillar of his development plan. Dr. Oundo has pledged to introduce initiatives that encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, skills development, and greater participation of young people and women in leadership and economic activities. He said collaboration with both public and private sector partners will help position Embakasi South as a centre for enterprise and talent development.

On healthcare, the aspirant pledged to advocate for improved medical services, increased support for vulnerable groups, and policies that enhance access to affordable, quality healthcare across the constituency.

His manifesto also prioritizes infrastructure development through better roads, improved sanitation, enhanced public safety, and the construction of modern public facilities that meet the needs of the rapidly growing constituency.

Dr. Oundo further emphasized that transparency, accountability, and public participation will define his leadership if elected. He pledged to maintain regular engagement with residents, listen to their concerns, and ensure public resources are managed responsibly and fairly.

"Leadership is earned through service. My commitment is to every resident of Embakasi South the youth seeking employment opportunities, the entrepreneur striving to grow a business, the student pursuing quality education, the parent seeking better healthcare, and the family aspiring for a safer and more prosperous future," he said.

He also called on all aspirants and their supporters to uphold peaceful, respectful, and issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 General Election, noting that healthy political competition strengthens democratic institutions and promotes national unity.

"As we prepare for the 2027 General Election, I call upon all aspirants and their supporters to embrace peaceful, issue-based politics. Embakasi South deserves leaders who inspire hope, champion development, and place the interests of wananchi above personal or political ambitions," he added.

Dr. Oundo reaffirmed his commitment to providing transformational leadership anchored on integrity, inclusivity, innovation, and sustainable development, expressing confidence that, through collective effort, Embakasi South can become an economically empowered, inclusive, and prosperous constituency where every resident has the opportunity to thrive.
