Johnnie Walker transformed Nanyuki into a vibrant hub of music, art and culture over the weekend as its signature Afro Exchange experience attracted hundreds of revellers to Zero Percent Lounge for an evening celebrating Kenyan creativity, entertainment and premium lifestyle experiences.
The event brought together music lovers, artists and cultural enthusiasts for a high-energy celebration headlined by celebrated musician Mejja, popularly known as Okwonkwo. The artist thrilled fans with a performance of some of his biggest hits, including the chart-topping Siaka, keeping the audience entertained throughout the night.
The entertainment lineup also featured DJs Candi and Cupid, who maintained the momentum with electrifying music sets, while MC Mido guided the evening's programme, ensuring guests remained engaged from start to finish.
Speaking during the event, Josephine Katambo, Marketing Manager for Scotch and Reserve Brands, described Nanyuki as one of Kenya's fastest-growing travel destinations, noting that its blend of adventure, culture and hospitality made it an ideal location for the Afro Exchange experience.
"Nanyuki has become one of Kenya's most exciting travel destinations, bringing together adventure, culture and unforgettable experiences," said Josephine Katambo, Marketing Manager for Scotch and Reserve Brands.
She said the initiative aims to celebrate individuals shaping contemporary African culture by creating spaces where music, art and meaningful social connections thrive.
"Afro Exchange is about celebrating the people shaping culture and creating spaces where music, art and memorable connections come alive. We were delighted by the incredible reception from consumers in Nanyuki and the energy they brought to the experience," Katambo added.
Adding an artistic dimension to the event, fast-rising mural artist McBull captivated guests through a live mural painting session that showcased African creativity in real time. The performance highlighted the brand's commitment to supporting local artistic talent beyond music.
The Nanyuki edition formed part of Johnnie Walker's National Scotch Day celebrations, observed annually on July 27. The celebrations also reflected the brand's continued efforts to redefine how consumers experience Scotch whisky through contemporary culture, creativity and memorable social experiences.
Organisers noted that Nanyuki's growing reputation as one of Kenya's leading tourism destinations provided the perfect setting for the event, bringing together music, creativity and premium experiences in a unique atmosphere that reflected the Johnnie Walker lifestyle.
Having previously staged successful Afro Exchange editions in major cities including Kisumu, the brand said the expansion to Nanyuki reinforces its commitment to championing local talent, celebrating African creativity and providing platforms where consumers can connect through shared cultural experiences.
East African Breweries PLC (EABL), the company behind Johnnie Walker in the region, said the Afro Exchange initiative is part of its broader strategy to create memorable experiences while supporting Kenya's vibrant creative industry and strengthening connections between consumers and the brand.
