Babu Owino Announces Mega Jacaranda Rally, Warns Against Attempts to Disrupt Event

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino announces a mega rally at Jacaranda Grounds on September 13, 2026, warning that attempts to disrupt the event, including the alleged deployment of goons, will not be tolerated.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has announced a major Linda Mwananchi rally at Jacaranda Grounds in Embakasi East, Nairobi, on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

Babu called on Nairobi residents and Kenyans from across the country to turn up for the rally, which is scheduled to begin at 6am.

The MP alleged that there were attempts by the government to cause chaos during the planned gathering, claiming that some individuals had been mobilised to intimidate supporters and disrupt the event.

Babu, however, urged those he described as "goons" to attend the rally and listen to the movement's message instead of causing violence.

"We are fighting for you. You have no job. You are going to be paid 500 shillings or 1,000 Kenyan shillings. We want to ensure that you get a job," Babu said.

He said Linda Mwananchi was advocating for employment opportunities and better government service delivery while seeking to offer Kenyans an alternative government.

Babu also warned against the destruction of businesses and property, arguing that such actions would hurt ordinary Kenyans.

He further claimed that some MPs and government officials were involved in efforts to interfere with the planned rally, saying the movement would name those allegedly behind the attempts.

"We will deal with you. And you will not be treated as an MP in Nairobi, putting goons on us," Babu said, challenging any politician allegedly involved in the plans to disrupt the rally to face the movement openly.

The Embakasi East MP maintained that previous attempts to stop Linda Mwananchi rallies had failed and vowed that the Jacaranda Grounds rally would go ahead.

He said organisers would announce the routes supporters would use to reach Jacaranda Grounds on Friday or Saturday ahead of the rally.

Babu described the planned gathering as the biggest of the Linda Mwananchi rallies in Nairobi and urged Kenyans to attend in large numbers.

The rally is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, 2026, starting at 6am at Jacaranda Grounds in Embakasi East.
